Ryan Frazier Advances to "Contender" Status in National Program

Fundraising Numbers Among Highest in Western U.S.

February 9, 2010 - Wheat Ridge, CO - Ryan Frazier, candidate for United States Congress, is one of eleven Republican candidates nationwide who has advanced recently from ‘On the Radar’ to ‘Contenders’ status in the National Republican Congressional Committee’s (NRCC) Young Guns program. The Young Guns system ranks candidates in three levels: “On the Radar,” “Contender” and, finally, “Young Guns.” Candidates are named to the program by meeting benchmarks set by the committee, which include developing grassroots support and fundraising.

Frazier was one of the top fundraisers among Republican candidates in the entire western fourteen-state region of the United States, outraising his Democrat rival Ed Perlmutter with a total $217,202.51 in the 4th quarter. According to reports filed, Frazier ranked 2nd in individual contributions, 3rd among candidates who did not contribute their own funds, and 7th in overall fundraising (which includes self-funded candidates). The western states included in the analysis are Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Hawaii.

Frazier’s 4th quarter fundraising numbers reveal that over 97% of his funds were donated by individuals and over 90% came from Coloradans. The numbers are meaningful as they indicate exceptionally strong support at the grassroots level. This remains in stark contrast to his Democrat rival, Ed Perlmutter, who earned 47.9% of his funds from special interest groups, the vast majority funneled from outside the state, mainly Washington, D.C.

Pete Sessions, Chairman of the NRCC, made the following statement regarding Frazier’s advancement in the program: “Ryan Frazier has already proven that he will be a formidable candidate by meeting the Young Guns program’s rigorous goals and is well on his way to building a winning campaign and putting this seat back in the Republican column. Frazier is part of a strong and growing candidate pool of Americans who are frustrated with the majority’s big-government ways and aren’t willing to stand idly by any longer. His campaign has put Ed Perlmutter on notice that Americans are ready to turn the page on the Democrats’ failed tax- and-spend agenda.”

Ryan Frazier Outraises Democrat Incumbent Ed Perlmutter

January 28, 2010 - Wheat Ridge, CO - Republican Ryan Frazier increases the momentum against Democrat incumbent Ed Perlmutter in Colorado’s highly competitive 7th Congressional District. Since entering the congressional race, the dynamic and popular Frazier raised a total $217,202.51 in the 4th quarter, outraising his Democrat rival. The fundraising lead is a stunning rebuke to an incumbent who has been a key ally in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s attempt to hijack healthcare reform.

Frazier, who has been gaining significant momentum since he announced his candidacy in October, is very popular among grassroots Republican and independent voters. He has been hailed by members of the GOP as a rising star and one of the most dynamic leaders in the party.

Frazier’s fundraising totals are especially important at this time, given the favorable electoral results for the GOP recently in Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia. Democrats are facing a difficult election year in 2010 in part because the Democrats are perceived as out of touch with regular, mainstream voters, especially independent voters.

Scott Howard, Frazier’s Campaign Manager stated, "The fact that Ryan has raised more money than an incumbent in this last quarter reveals an underlying frustration among Coloradans. Voter frustration that has surfaced in other parts of the country is now taking center stage in Colorado’s District 7. People have lost faith in the Democrats' ability, as the majority party, to address the critical issues such as creating the conditions for strong job growth and stabilizing our economy. Ed Perlmutter is out of touch. He has voted consistently with the liberal leadership and authored a tax increase. He's been supporting policies that actually destroy jobs. Why? A whopping 47.9% of his funds came from PACs that serve D.C. and not Colorado families. The voters want an end to the reckless one-party rule in Washington. The facts confirm that they are not only voting against one-party rule at the ballot boxes but also with their checkbooks."

Frazier’s 4th quarter fundraising numbers reveal that over 97% of his funds were donated by individuals and over 90% came from Coloradans, bolstering his claims of support from grassroots and independent voters.

Ryan Frazier on President's Address

January 27, 2010 Wheat Ridge, CO - In response to President Obama’s State of the Union address tonight, Ryan Frazier, candidate for U.S. Congress, issued the following statement:

“While President Obama certainly laid forth constructive ideas on moving our nation forward, I fear his words are more of the same rhetoric offering promises that again will be broken tomorrow. Last year he promised that unemployment wouldn’t exceed 8.5% if Congress passed a $760 billion ‘stimulus’ bill. Nearly a year later, we have been strapped with an unprecedented $1.35 trillion debt, and have been burdened with many broken promises. Today 3.3 million more Americans are out of work than last year at this time, with an unemployment rate reaching 10%. We don’t need more of the same rhetoric; we need new leadership in Congress to dissolve one-party rule, and restore checks and balances to our federal government.”

National Journal: Midterm Momentum Is All GOP's

January 27, 2010 - Charlie Cook writes in the National Journal that conditions are right for a GOP sweep of the House:
Any Democrats who are content to throw Martha Coakley or her inept Massachusetts Senate campaign under the bus, as they did Virginia gubernatorial hopeful Creigh Deeds in November, should take a casual look at the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, conducted Jan. 10-14 among 1,002 registered voters with a 3-point error margin.

On the generic congressional ballot test, the two parties run even, 41-41 percent. This should be troubling for Democrats because this poll question historically skews in their favor. More significant was that among those voters with the most intense interest in this election (those who rated their interest as either 9 or 10), and the most likely to vote in a midterm election, Republicans held a 15-point lead, 50-35 percent.

This is the second consecutive month of huge GOP advantages among those voters most interested in the election. If this level remains constant, you can count on the Democratic majority in the House being toast this fall.

Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

January 18, 2010 - Today I honor the life and profound work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who selflessly gave his life to the work of advancing equal rights and opportunity to all Americans. I personally am grateful for Dr. King, whose Dream changed the course of history and ultimately carved the path of opportunity for future generations. Though our nation has come a long way, we should be mindful that our work is not over. It is our moral obligation to ensure that every American has the opportunity to prosper, equal protection under our laws, and access to a quality education. Take a moment today to pause and reflect upon Dr. King’s message and life; may his message continue to serve as a beacon of hope to those around the world who struggle to attain freedom where it does not exist.

Politico: Cantor Endorses Frazier

From Politico.com:
It’s been a good day for Ryan Frazier, the Aurora city councilman who is one of the leading African-American Republican candidates running for Congress this year.

Frazier announced today that he raised $215,000 in the fourth fundraising quarter in his campaign against Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-Colo.), giving him $275,000 cash-on-hand at the end of the 2009.

On top of his solid fundraising, Frazier also announced he’s won the endorsement of House Minority Whip Eric Cantor. Cantor is backing Frazier even though he faces the likelihood of a contested Republican primary against Iraq war veteran Lang Sias, who worked on John McCain’s presidential campaign.

“I am impressed with his strong level of grassroots support; it seems people are really responding to Ryan's people-powered campaign,” Cantor said in a statement released by Frazier’s campaign.

Ryan Frazier Builds Momentum in Race for Colorado’s 7th Congressional District - Over $400,000 Raised To Date

Wheat Ridge, CO - As Ed Perlmutter raises campaign cash from special interests groups outside the state and continues to amass a voting record that does not reflect his district’s values, congressional candidate Ryan Frazier is having success by remembering the old axiom: all politics are local.

By focusing on the needs of the people of Colorado and working hard, Ryan Frazier has built up an impressive war chest. His 4th quarter fundraising numbers show that Frazier raised over $215,000 and that over 90% of the funds came from Coloradans.

“As I meet with people throughout the district, regardless of their party affiliation, they are telling me that the leadership in Washington is frustrating them and they want someone who will listen and lead accordingly,” Frazier said. “I’m honored to have their support and investment in our campaign.”

Given that Democrats all over the country, and especially in the West, are facing an unfavorable election year, Ed Perlmutter may be in for the race of his political career.

U.S. House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) agrees and is supporting Ryan Frazier.

“Ryan Frazier would make a thoughtful and independent addition to Colorado's congressional delegation in Congress. His military service, small business background, common sense fiscal conservatism and record advocating for real education reforms are needed in Congress,” said Cantor. “I know he will bring new ideas, energy and a determination to get results for his Constituents. With regards to his campaign, I am impressed with his strong level of grassroots support; it seems people are really responding to Ryan's people-powered campaign."

To date Frazier has raised over $400,000 and has over $275,000 cash-on-hand. The National Republican Congressional Committee has recently named Frazier as 'On the Radar' of their Young Guns program, a distinction earned by top tier candidates.

Where's The Transparency? Coloradans Deserve To Hear Negotiations on Healthcare

January 7, 2009 - I hope Coloradans understand and realize that if we continue to give this administration unbridled power through a Democrat-controlled Congress, we can expect to see the same shady dealings and irresponsible behavior in the years to come. Our representatives need to openly denounce shady healthcare dealings and demand transparency as promised by President Obama. They need to act in our best interest, not the interest of their party and Washington D.C. special-interest cronies.
