Jobs

“The focus should be on allowing Main Street to thrive, not on bailing out Wall Street.”

Small business in the United States accounts for over 60 percent of all new jobs. The way to create jobs and economic growth is by allowing small, Main Street businesses access to the credit that they need to run their operations. Despite billions of dollars in bailout spending on banks, the credit markets for small businesses still aren’t working. As your Congressman, I will work to ensure that the right kind of banking reform happens so that everyone benefits, not just Wall Street bankers.

Congress must foster an environment of regulatory certainty by reining in their overreach into the day-to-day activities of private businesses. When lawmakers enact new regulations almost every week, this creates an atmosphere where business owners cannot plan for the future and plot a course for growth. It is nearly impossible to budget for next year when you do not know what taxes and regulations Congress is going to force upon your business next week. Americans do not need more arbitrary rules and taxes. We need common-sense policies that help, not hinder, small businesses.

My focus is on helping Coloradans, and all Americans, get back to work.
